New Executive Committee Unveiled by ANA Ogun Chapter

The Ogun State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has formally inaugurated its new executive committee at a well-attended ceremony that brought together writers, literary stakeholders, and traditional authorities.

Delivering the welcome address, the outgoing Chairman, Dr. Chris Omotosho, who also serves as President of the South West Authors’ Forum, expressed deep appreciation to members for their unwavering support throughout his two tenures, spanning a total of eight years. He highlighted key achievements recorded during his leadership, including a significant increase in the number of books published by members, improved consistency in meetings, and a corresponding growth in membership across the state chapter.

In his acceptance remarks, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Chief Abiodun Lasile, Orunto Baalufe of the Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, outlined his vision for the association. He reaffirmed ANA’s status as a professional body dedicated to the advancement of writers in Nigeria and pledged to strengthen its core objectives. These include the promotion of Nigerian literature, protection of writers’ rights and interests, provision of platforms for networking and collaboration, encouragement of literary excellence through awards and workshops, advocacy for freedom of expression and intellectual independence, and the nurturing of creativity through literature.

The event also featured goodwill messages from the Royal Father of the Day, Kabiyesi Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Metemilola Otileta VII, the Oluyalo Olowu of Owu Kingdom. The monarch commended authors for their invaluable contributions to societal development, noting that their works play a vital role in documenting history, preserving knowledge, and passing information to future generations. He assured the association of his continued support, emphasizing the importance of empowering writers to operate effectively and contribute meaningfully to national growth.

The inauguration marked a new chapter for the ANA Ogun State Chapter, as members expressed optimism about sustained growth and renewed commitment to literary excellence under the new leadership.
