As political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum in Ogun State, the Ogun West Initiative (OWI) has called on citizens of the State to sustain their support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), noting that his performance in just two years at the Senate has restored the dignity of the people through people-focused projects and empowerment programmes.

The social political group also cautioned political actors in Ogun State against what it termed “smear campaigns” aimed at discrediting Senator Adeola, stressing that attempts to stop his rising political profile ahead of the 2027 elections would fail.

Speaking at a breakfast media parley on Tuesday, the Convener, Ogun West Initiative (OWI), Olootu Bolaji Adeniji, stated that the purpose of parley is to have a clear minds towards the political development across the State, and how it affects the interest of the Ogun West senatorial district.

He added that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu as made an impact on the State, citing that the agenda has made it possible to deliver better social services and amenities among the people.

“We called for this parley this morning for a briefing and to have conversation around political developments in our dear Ogun State and particularly how it affects the interest of Ogun West senatorial district – for our objective as a sociopolitical advocacy group – is to seek and purse the socioeconomic prosperity and political growth of our district.

“We align ourselves with a dominant opinion in our senatorial district that recognizes the progress we are making under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, whose Renewed Hope agenda is having positive knock-on effect in our district. We have never had it so good in terms of the dividends of democracy actually touching our people; as the reforms of Mr. President has made it possible for subnationals, Ogun State inclusive, to have more capacity (improved funding) to deliver better social services to the masses.

“Significantly, the Renewed Hope banner also made it possible for our legislators to deliver effective representation and enriched facilitation of federal interventions to our district. Of note, the exceptional impact of our Senator, Aremo Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) in embarking on massive empowerment of constituents and facilitation of unprecedented volume and quality of projects across the 59 wards of Ogun West has justified that the policies are working. We sincerely thank Mr. President for creating the enablement and also our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the support system”.

Olootu Adeniji, also appreciated Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi for his democratic means to enhance the welfare of the people and to restore their dignity after years of deprivation and suppression.

“We like to use this medium to lavishly thank Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola for what he keeps doing to enhance the welfare of our people and restore their dignity after years of deprivation and suppression. Today YAYI has demonstrated in practical terms the meaning of democracy – being government of the people, by the people and for the people. He has shown that the resources of the people can indeed be used for the benefit of the people.
Our senator has demonstrated that being in a position of opportunity differs from using that advantage to the ultimate benefit of the people.

“Many materials abound out there on the act of YAYI in just two years of representation and we will not need to embark on that inexhaustible list at this table. But just to state that YAYI is like a sweet orchestra that continues to deliver sonorous and pleasant tunes, he has stepped up his foot on the gas. In recent weeks for instance, 102 communities across Ogun State benefitted the provision of new transformers that were fully delivered and energized. In the last six days also, another 90 projects of diverse orientation that have been fully completed were commissioned across the five local governments of Ogun West.

“These “Acts of YAYI” speaks to a leadership style that is uncommon in our environment. For years, the people coped with tokenism and in some cases no-show. But in Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the masses are seeing the effects of transformational leadership. A leader that seeks the good of the greatest number of persons per time; a leader who works tirelessly delivering people-focused services; a leader that is unapologetically committed to development; a leader that is selfless, compassionate and empathetic to the welfare of the people and a leader that believes in the dignity of the human being and ensures they get the best of our commonwealth. Today the people of Ogun West and beyond are savouring a taste of what was offered on the table in the days of Awolowo – real human development and economic growth.”, He said.

Speaking on the 2027 electoral cycle, the Convener, said, “As we march towards the 2027 electoral cycle, we like to spare our thought on few issues associated with the search for the next governor of Ogun State. Whereas, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has yet to put out a formal declaration to contest for the top job, it is palpable that he will do so at the right time; more so that the calls for him to contest is deafening. Without doubt, YAYI is today the fulcrum for all liberal minds across Ogun State and there is aggregation of opinion that he typifies the qualities needed for the next leader of Ogun State.

“This growing consensus is organic, the admiration of his leadership skills is genuine, the love for his person is real and nothing exemplifies this than his recent 56th birthday anniversary on August 10th 2025, when friends, supporters and admirers put up massive “self-sponsored” celebration events in the three senatorial districts simultaneously; unprecedented in the social and political history of Nigeria.

“Let it be stated that only God – through the wishes and votes of the people – chooses a leader for any people. Ambition is free and constitutional but pursuit of such goals must be done with civility and decorum. We have noted with aversion, the rising tendencies by political opponents of YAYI both within the APC and outside of it, to denigrate his personality unprovoked. We now see materials being churned out as direct and sometimes deflected attack on his person, apparently sponsored by those who feel threatened by the gigantic profile of YAYI and are stiff-scared to confront him in a free and fair contest; hence the repugnant resort to campaign of calumny.

“We imagined that at this level of our political evolution and the sophistication Ogun State is noted for, electoral contestation will be ideological based, facts and evidence based, with aspirants and their supports marketing their goods to the electorate. But rather than them do these, they have shamefacedly conceded defeat even before the battle – by pursuing “Operation stop YAYI from contesting”. We even heard that there is a coalition being built to this effect and funds being mobilized for that purpose. We want to state unequivocally that this plot against YAYI will fail woefully. YAYI is with God and one with God is a majority. YAYI is with the people and one with the people is a winner,” He added.

Olootu Adeniji, however urged fake bloggers, journalists and peddlers of falsehood to desist from the evil practices of speaking negativity about Senator Yayi.

“Ogun West Initiative is using this medium to advise naysayers, peddlers of falsehoods and anti-YAYI campaigners to desist from that inglorious path. They should face their focus and market their hopeful in peace. They should emulate the YAYI camp that daily promotes their brand based on the strength of achievements, capacity and ideas. Importantly, as a body, we will not hesitate to confront headlong, any individual or group that still chooses to pursue attack on YAYI as an obsession. To every action, there can always be and equal and opposite reaction.

“Finally, we thank members of the general public for the acceptance and support given to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola whose rise to this political preeminence has been by meritocracy and service to humanity. The people should also go out and regularize their voting status in order to exercise their electoral rights and elect the leader they deserve in 2027. God bless Ogun State”.
