The Ogun State High Court in Ijebu Ode has nullified the impeachment of Hon. Wale Adedayo as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government.

Delivering judgment on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Justice Catherine Ogunsanya of High Court 1 ruled that the action taken by seven councillors to remove Adedayo from office was invalid. The councillors had impeached him after he alleged that the Ogun State Government failed to remit federal allocations to local governments in the state.

Adedayo, through his legal team from CitiPoint Chambers and represented by Barrister Tesleem Adewuyi, challenged the impeachment in court, describing it as unlawful and politically motivated.

In her ruling, Justice Ogunsanya declared the impeachment “null and void” and ordered the Ijebu East Local Government to pay Adedayo N30 million in damages. The court also directed that he be paid all entitlements due to him as a former local government chairman.

The judgment brings an end to the months-long legal dispute surrounding Adedayo’s removal from office.
