NELFUND Disburses ₦6.9m Loan to Aviation University Students

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦6,972,000 to 10 students of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja.
The Fund made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, reaffirming its commitment to supporting educational institutions and empowering students across the country.
Acknowledging the support, the Registrar of AAAU, Mustapha Abdul, confirmed that the funds were released on Monday, July 21, 2025. He described the intervention as timely, noting that it would ease the financial burden on the beneficiaries and enable them to concentrate on their studies.
“We deeply appreciate this timely intervention, which will significantly reduce the financial pressure on our beneficiaries and enhance their focus on academic pursuit,” the university stated.
NELFUND was created under the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on April 3, 2024, to provide sustainable higher education and skill development opportunities for Nigerian youths.
Just a day earlier, the Federal Government disclosed that over ₦59 billion had been disbursed to students nationwide through NELFUND, with more than 600,000 beneficiaries already onboarded.
Speaking in Asaba, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stressed the government’s resolve to ensure that no eligible Nigerian is denied tertiary education due to financial constraints.
