Ramadan/Easter: Barods Foundation Donates Food Items, Cash Gifts To Over 100 Widows, widower in Ogun

In its commitment to support vulnerable women in the society, Barods Empowerment Foundation has donated essential food items to over 100 widows in Ogun State.

The initiative, part of the Ramadan/Easter Widow’s Welfare 2.0 program of the foundation, was designed to provide relief and empowerment to widows during the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

Beyond food distribution, the event featured a health awareness session led by Dr. Mrs. Bamgboye Folasade, Senior Medical Officer at State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta.

Dr. Bamgboye educated widows on preventive healthcare, urging them to pay attention to their bodies and prioritize early detection of health issues.

Speaking briefly after the distribution of the food items, the Chairman of the foundation, Mr Babatunde Denton said that the foundation was poised to touch lives especially the widows in this holy of month of Ramadan and Lenten seasons.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairperson of this year Ramadan/Easter Widow’s Welfare 2.0, Miss Lolade Ogundimu revealed that the foundation’s mission is to uplift and empower widows, not just through relief materials but by fostering economic independence and social inclusion.

According to Miss Ogundimu “This program is about more than just food donations. It is a message of hope, reminding widows that they are not alone. We are here to support them in every way possible”

“Our foundation was established with a clear mission—to support vulnerable groups, especially widows, by providing them with the resources, skills, and encouragement they need to live dignified and independent lives.”

“Today’s event is a testament to that commitment. As we observe these sacred seasons—Ramadan, a time of fasting, prayer, and generosity, and Easter, a celebration of hope, renewal, and love—we find it fitting to give back to those who need it most.”

“We understand the challenges that come with widowhood—the emotional, financial, and social struggles. That is why we have put together this welfare package, not just as a gift, but as a symbol of our support, care, and solidarity with you.”

While speaking on the food items distributed, Mrs Ogundimu encouraged the widows and other beneficiaries to see themselves as a reminder that their strength, resilience and contributions to society are valued.

We at Barods Empowerment Foundation are committed to continuously supporting widows, not just during Ramadan and Easter, but all year round, through various initiatives that promote self-sufficiency, skill development, and financial stability.”

“To our dear widows, I want you to leave here today with hope in your hearts. Know that you are cherished, and we will continue to stand by you. Let us embrace the spirit of these holy seasons—unity, love, and compassion—and work together to build a future where no widow is left behind.”

Some of the beneficiaries which spoke to journalists after the event, expressed deep appreciation to the foundation for the kind and humanitarian gesture.
